OCSC: Why do you sail?
You know those moments when you can feel your whole body and mind agreeing with your decision to be right where you are? Sailing brings me more of those moments than most activities. There is nothing like some chilly sailing goodness to shake up or soothe during a dull or overwhelming week.
OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?
What’s not to love? There are so many life-affirming, kind, intelligent, and downright fun people milling about OCSC. Learning, growing, and laughing are inevitable. You have been warned.
OCSC: What's your sailing background?
Could staring at sails and dreaming please count as “background”? Before OCSC, my time on the water wasn't under sail. I'm learning that this is a great place to grow as a sailor and a person .
OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?
Trying to complete graduate school with my sanity intact (Note to other students: Sailing helps with that); Exploring the gorgeous, living postcard that is the Bay Area; Writing; Hiking; Attending live performances; Rock climbing; Staring at sails and dreaming (it’s a tough habit to break); Oh, and plotting to take over the world.
OCSC: What are your top five sailing books of all time?
Sailing and/or the sea? Here's the short list ... so far:
The Curve of Time, M. Wylie Blanchet
My Old Man and the Sea, David Hays and Daniel Hays
Master and Commander, Patrick O’Brian
In the Heart of the Sea, Nathaniel Philbrick
The Hungry Ocean: A Swordboat Captain’s Journey, Linda Greenlaw
